ELECTION 2016

Exhibition Dates: October 1- 29, 2016

The 2016 election may be the most important in our life times, and some artists are taking the political and social temperature of this moment in their art work. Debates for our time rage at all ends of the political spectrum in the media culture offering up rich images for artists who are highly tuned to the past, present, and future as it effects social, constitutional and political considerations. This is often expressed in subtle, bold, satirical, graphic or abstract visualizations filled with personal expression.
This is your opportunity to use your art to stake out your position in visual terms for this momentous event.
Our juror is Kenneth Schnall. Ken is an accomplished practicing artist who has a BA in Fine Arts Education and an MA degree in Art History. He has received multiple fellowships to study printmaking and painting in Italy and his work has been reviewed in Art in America and The New York Times. He has exhibited widely and has had numerous solo exhibitions in New York City and New Jersey since 1972, showcasing his prints, paintings and artist’s books. His work is in various public, corporate and private collections.
His artwork is invested in historical and classical themes, but he takes an intense interest in the state of the current political scene as he sees this as a crucial cauldron that informs the work of contemporary artists in this country at a crucial juncture in its political history.
